Brandee Payne
"The One-Two-Nine"
Welcome to Brandee's blog/webpage/forum/place-to-lay-down-da-smack !!!
First, let's get to know the top lady rider from the Texas Gulf Coast region.
BP, give us a short bio on yourself
Well my name is
Brandee Payne And I just turned 15 in September. I ride a Crf250 and I'm #129.
I live in Orange, TX. and have been attending Little Cypress school district
since pre-k.
The past 2 years in school, I was the track star. I ran the 100 meter dash, 200
meter hurdles, 400 meter relay, and I did shot-put. I was an all A student and
was given an award in 8th grade for English for most creativity in writing. I
also got awards for 10 years in gymnastics. But this past year for freshman
year, I've been home schooled and visited California to ride the tracks there.
When
did you get your first bike, and do you remember your first race ?
Ever since my
dad first brought me to one of his races I wanted to race. So for about 4
months I begged for a dirt bike. I got a 1979 Xr50 the night before my first
dance recital, rode it the next day in a dress, went and fell in a muddy ditch,
came back and told my mom that I wanted to race and not take dancing anymore.
And I won my first race when I was about 6 and a half on an Xr70 at Bayou
Motocross Park, which is now Beaumont Motocross Park.
When did you realize that you were going pretty good and might be
competitive in women's racing ?
I realized when
I saw how fast my dad was. I was like man, I'm his daughter, I could totally do
what he does.
And I realized I would be competitive in Women's racing in 2003 at the
Thanksgiving race ay Cycle Ranch. I was on a Yz85 stock everything, and raced
the WMA schoolgirl and came in, I think 10th out of like 25 women. And I was the
only
85 out of all the 250f's, 125's,450f's, and 250's.
What have been your best finishes to date ?
Cycle Ranch

Freestone 2nd Annual Texas Championship race-1st place-Women's amateur

Loretta Lynn's National 2005-2006-6th place- Girls 65cc-105cc 9-13
What
was your first visit to Loretta Lynn's as a racer like ?
My first visit
to Loretta Lynn's in 2004 was amazing. I've never dreamed of anything better
than that race.
I went there with an attitude of I'm #1 and no one can beat me, and it showed in
my racing.
Who do you admire in racing, both men and women ?
I admire quite a
few guy racers, because there's something special that each of them have that
others might not have as much of. First of all I admire Ricky Carmichael because
he is the most intelligence on the track, Ryan Villopoto because of his line
choice, he chooses the best and the most that I've seen any other rider take,
James Stewart because of his aggressiveness and speed, Andrew Short because he
has my Loretta's number and rides a Honda, and Ivan Tedesco because when he had
#29 he won more, I think ! haha.
And my favorite Women's rider is Tarah Geiger, just because her style is sooo
smooth unlike anyone else.
What is your current practice/training regimen ?
I practice on
the weekend and sometimes during the week, mostly with friends or even by
myself. I just ride and ride until I can't ride anymore, and that's what I've
been doing since I first started riding and always will. And training.. I would
usually run track during school and lift weights in Athletics.. but now that I'm
not in school I haven't been doing anything training wise, other than eating and
drinking healthy. So I'm working on a plan to work out and make my arms stronger
so I can match them with my ability.
What music do you listen to ? Favorite foods/restaurants ?
I mostly
listen to like screamo/emo and mellow rock, but not like that old heavy metal.
OH! and oldies, that stuff is great! And my favorite food is the Sirloin Steak
(Medium Well) from Chili's.
What is your favorite racing event and why ?
The Thanksgiving
Race at Cycle Ranch, because women from all over the world come down to race
other women and have a Thanksgiving feast with the motocross families. Also the
track is my favorite of all time!
Who is currently helping you out ?
All
my Sponsors, especially EBR and Thor, they're a real big help; my grandpa and my
mom for bringing me to all the races while my dad is gone out of state. The
Pierce family for also bringing me to races and being there for me at races when
my mom cant be there. They're like my second family and I wouldn't want to have
anyone as my second family other than them. And last but not least my friends
for always making me smile when things aren't the greatest.
What are your racing plans for 2008 ?
I'm planning on racing every WMA national race in the country and win of course and turn pro at the Thanksgiving race at Cycle Ranch next year. But in order for that to go the right way, I need to get my training schedule on a roll.
Okay, there ya have it. Stay tuned !
