Product Review
If you've noticed this curious
little gizmo on the forks of some bikes lately, you've probably wondered what
the heck it is. The idea has been brought to fruition by Shand Garcia, a well
known motocross personality in Texas who races, takes pics,
writes stories for Holeshot, wrote a book (Berm, the Chronicles), and markets
the Shock Sox. We caught up with Shand to get the scoop on this new product.
Shand, tell us a little about yourself -- My name is Shand Garcia, I run Shock Sox and help out Holeshot Magazine. I love motocross and have been involved in the sport for 32 years now. I have been very fortunate to have been able to work within the dirtbike industry. I have been very blessed as this past summer ....... I authored the book "Berm - The Texas Motocross Chronicles", and acquired Shock Sox from my very good friend Kevin Weable. How did you get this idea ? I am not that smart.....hahahah !Kevin Weable brainstormed the idea back in 2001, and launched the product in 2002. Kevin was the brains behind the concept, and I just came in later to help out with sales and marketing.
What exactly is the product, how does it work, etc ? Shock Sox are a REMOVABLE fork seal protector. I believe we are the only fork seal protector on the market that is removable. Our tag line is "Shock Sox the 10 Second Removable Fork Seal Protector". Shock Sox can be put or taken off in about 10 seconds. Other brands, as most people know are not that simple, and require you to have to lower the fork tube below the bottom triple clamp for installation and removal. This process is very time consuming, and actually traps dirt and dust behind the protector, eventually causing fork seals to leak........ NOT Shock Sox, with 3 Velcro straps, our product offers our customers SIMPLICITY, and is a hassle-free way for riders to avoid the agonizing sight of blown fork seals on their bikes.
How can people get the Sox ? There are currently three ways to purchase Shock Sox. 1) your local dealership's parts counter should have some. 2) Orders can be called in 972-279-0301 or, 3) Visit our website at www.ShockSoxMX.com
Thanks Shand, and good luck with your book, the magazine, and especially with the Shock Sox !!
